What a Teen Should Do This Year

This advice comes from Paul’s advice to the young Timothy. The world might have changed a bit since their time, but the advice still applies to you (and me) today as 2013 begins. Think about each item, how you’ve already done at each one, and how you’ll do this year!

1. Take Charge of Your Life
"This charge I commit unto thee...that thou by them mightest war a good warfare...Holding faith, and a good conscience" (I Timothy 1:18-19)

2. Pray for People Around You and Above You
"I exhort therefore, that...supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." (I Tim. 2:1-2)

3. Work to Become a Stronger Christian
"But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come." (I Timothy 4:7-8)

4. Don't Just Act Like Everyone Else
"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." (I Timothy 4:12)
"Take heed unto thyself". (I Timothy 4:16)

5. Pursue and Follow Good Things
"...flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness." (I Timothy 6:11)

6. Totally Commit to What is Good and Right
"Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee." (I Timothy 4:15-16)
