There’s one word that caught my attention in Mark 13. It’s repeated. By Jesus.
So it’s probably important. Maybe we should pay attention?
“Take heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.”
“Watch ye therefore…”
“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
I think He’s telling us to watch, guys. So maybe we should be watching. (I think He meant it.)
But what are we supposed to be watching for? His coming. And there will be signs indicating when He’s getting ready.
Why are we supposed to be watching? So we’ll be prepared. Lots of people will be caught unawares. Don’t be one of them.
If there was ever a time when your antennae should be up, this is it. Does that mean that Jesus is about to swoop down tomorrow, or that the Tribulation is happening now, or some such thing? Not necessarily.
Momentous, history-changing events have happened many times. We read about them in history books and watch documentaries about them. One day, people might do the same regarding the coronavirus. Because surely, this is a history-altering event.
Is it the “end”? For a lot of people, it definitely is the end. They are dying and more will die. To them, it doesn’t matter if this is the end of human history or if society will recover – because it ended for them.
Hopefully they were ready.
So should you watch for Jesus’ coming? Could this be a prophetic event of historical significance? Sure.
But don’t miss the forest for the one tree that matters most (to you personally): your salvation.
Get saved, now.
